procrastination and its evils

why do we procrastinate?

you know that essay that you could have written in a couple of hours..that you end up spending all day on..

if you were just able to focus your attention for a given time period, think how much you would acheive. it's the source of a lot of frustration really...to know that you could have finished an assignment, a project hours or days ago had you just given it a little push..

is it the pressure of the looming deadline that encourages to finally buckle down? and what happens when that moment comes too late and it just doesn't work out? does that teach us lessons? not usually...

that's right, cleverly disguised as a responsible adult

Sometimes I wonder how efficiently I'm doing with the responsible part of the disguise. Who wants to be a responsible adult anyway? We'll have plenty of time to be that person in the years to come, so why start any sooner than we're ready.

...except that maybe there are degrees of responsibility and sometimes we could all use some reflecting on where we want to place ourselves on that scale of responsibility.
